Dive & Sail Packages

Our Dive & Sail Packages are each offered monthly and include the following destinations:

Roatan’s South Shore dive sites include many of Roatan’s signature dives including Mary’s Place, Menagerie and Calvin’s Crack to name a few. This is where you may explore big walls that fall to deep depths, covered in both hard and soft coral with many overhangs. Lobsters, eagle rays, large green morays, groupers and big fish are common. Wrecks include the Prince Albert, remains of an old DC3 airplane, and the Mr. Bud. The colors and coral formations are breathtaking.

Port Royal. This area is towards the southeast end of Roatan. There are very few resorts in this area and even fewer dive operators. The diving here is spectacularly unspoiled and many professional underwater photographers come here for the pristine conditions. The reefs have a wonderful mix of shallow reef gardens and dramatic walls. Amazing coral structures and incredibly clear water.

Cayos Cochinos is about a 4 hour sail from Roatan across the Strait of Honduras. This is a National Marine Park administered by the Smithsonian Institute consisting of a group of 13 small islands and cays 24 miles from Roatan that are only accessible by private boat and water taxi. The coral reefs are pure and untouched, you don’t even have to leave the top of the reef to have an amazing dive. The walls have stunning coral and amazing fish life. Eagle rays, nurse sharks and turtles are the highlights and night diving on the wall is spectacular! Lion’s Head, the Pavilions, Pelican Point and of course the offshore Pinnacles (weather permitting) are the highlights of the diving here.

Guanaja (gwah-na-ha) is the next island some 30 miles to the east of Roatan. The sail to Guanaja takes about 4 hours from Port Royal but is well worth it. The variety of diving and topography will give you a chance to sample caverns, tunnels, canyons, towering pinnacles and endless healthy reefs. We frequently see nurse sharks, often free swimming, around 5 – 6 feet in length and on one dive the resident nurse shark named Jim usually comes by to check us out. This is the home of famous sites such as the Jado Trader, Jim’s Silverlode, The Pinnacle, and Black Rock Canyon to name a few.

Your dive team consists of your personal Dive Master and one of Zeppelin’s hosts, both hosts are PADI Instructors.  With a maximum of 4 guests, no matter what your dive level or experience we provide you with safe, secure and fun diving. We will also take underwater photos and video of your dives for you to take home to share with friends and family at no extra cost.

Explorer Sail & Snorkel Package

Leaving from our base at Parrot Tree Marina, we sail east for about 2 hours along Roatan’s coastline and you start to feel the remoteness as we near Port Royal. This area was the home of many English pirates in the 1600’s and 1700’s and Captain Henry Morgan made Port Royal one of his main bases of operations. This is the undeveloped east end of Roatan, the real Roatan in many locals’ opinion, and has the most beautiful scenery and crystal clear waters on the island.

The snorkeling here is amazing at the Horseshoe Reef seeing large corals waving in the current, rays and schools of juvenile fish and at the Tugboat Wreck often seeing the large resident puffer fish and nurse shark sleeping in the sand and an array of reef fishes. You will enjoy our boat tour through the mangrove channels which is appealing to the photographer and bird watcher.

From Port Royal we sail towards the island of Guanaja (gwah-na-ha) taking about 4 hours. This island is about 3 miles at its widest by 11 miles long with one of its peaks rising to almost 1,400 feet, it is the most mountainous of the Bay Islands. Fall in love with this island’s pristine underwater landscape of the coral reefs and abundant fish life, the above water natural beauty of green rolling hills and the nearby white sandy beach cays, along with the warm hospitality of the islanders.

Enjoy the walking tour of Bonacca which is the largest settlement (even though it only encompasses about 100 acres), is built on two cays with waterways and bridges connecting everything. Tour the island from our skiff stopping at Michael Rock for snorkeling, and enjoy hiking to the local water falls with a refreshing cool off as a treat, catch sights of tropical birds in treetops, sunbathing reptiles and lush jungle.

If Deep Sea fishing is your passion – head out with a local guide and catch dinner to grill up later. You can expect to see tuna, barracuda, wahoo, dorado, jack, mahi-mahi, marlin, grouper and king mackerel.

Kayak or SUP paddle board from Zeppelin around the anchorages and explore nearby shallow reefs to enjoy a dip in the calm turquoise waters.

Leaving Guanaja and heading to Cayos Cochinos is approximately a 7 hour sail southwest down the Strait of Honduras. We frequently see whales and dolphins in the open strait as we travel along. The coral reefs in Cayos are pure and untouched and the walls have stunning coral and amazing fish life. Eagle rays, nurse sharks and turtles are the highlights. We’ll explore the cays in our launch and you can walk on a deserted island – Gilligan you say? Easy hiking on Cayos Grande or walking along the shoreline is all available. The entire archipelago within a 5 mile radius has been declared a biological preserve and is set aside as a National Marine Monument, home to the Coral Reef Foundation. Wonderful exploring in the kayak around the anchorage and outstanding snorkel stops along the way. Spectacular sunsets and the evening sky filled with a million stars are waiting for you.

From Cayos a 4 hour sail either to the South Shore of Roatan or West End depending on the weather conditions.  On the South Shore we stop at French Cay Harbor where you can kayak and paddle board around Fantasy Island or step ashore and visit the island’s famous Iguana Farm or get a photo with a local monkey on your shoulders. At sunset you can snorkel and watch the lobsters march across the reef!  Fantastic snorkeling at Coco View reef often seeing eagle rays, a variety of reef fishes and a wreck is often visible from above.

West End is a cool, funky village with over 20 dive shops and multiple bars and restaurants. West Bay is right next door and has the best beaches on Roatan as well as several large all-inclusive luxury resorts. Stroll the white beaches from West End to West Bay, or rent a scooter, motorcycle or car to see the island. This end of the island is also home to many of the most popular tourist attractions, including South Shore Zip Line, Carambola Gardens, and Gumbalimba Park just to mention a few. Outstanding snorkeling over shallow reefs, stunning coral and fish life and has the best sites to see turtles and eagle rays. Besides Cayos, the most excellent sunsets in the islands!

Gourmet Food Roatan Sailing
  • Enjoy delicious home cooked meals, created specifically to your preferences

  • Relax on the spacious foredeck enjoying your morning quiet time being served ‘ensalada de frutas’, home baked treats and the best coffee made in Honduras.

  • Everything made with local fresh ingredients.

  • Giddy? Definition: Sipping a tall tropical beverage, nibbling on appetizers, while watching the sun set from your private waterfront deck

My parents loved to entertain and as a young girl I always hung in the background to watch the ‘grown ups’ interact, listening to what they said and watching how they enjoyed their meals at our home.
Elly Smith

As I got older my mother would invite me to assist her in the kitchen, getting out the ‘special’ dishes, decorating, and later on serving her splendid dishes, me being so nervous not to spill or drop anything enroute to the table.  The smiles on her guests’ faces as the platters arrived and listening to their delighted comments as they ate have always stayed with me.

Roatan Gourmet Food

I have always loved to entertain and now we have Zeppelin Dive & Sail I am thrilled to see our guests enjoy their vacation, being on board and sharing the dishes that we create. Hearing their delight when the food arrives to them, warms my heart. And for some reason… the food always tastes better on the sea!

It all begins with us sending our guests an information form to complete. We want to know about any food allergies, likes and dislikes, right down to the “junk food” section.  This way we get a feel for the types of meals, snacks and beverages our guests will enjoy. As you can appreciate, we live on an island, sometimes we can get the ingredients and sometimes not. It usually takes about 3 days to provision for a charter as there isn’t ‘one stop shopping’ here. Many times the menu changes based on what is available… but we are always able to come up with something special.

I am a big believer in serving fresh local fruits and veggies and lots of it. Why not?  The flavors are incredible, no pesticides and all grown within 100 miles either on the mainland or on the island. Did you know that Roatan has it’s very own Hydroponic Farm that grows mixed greens, romaine, basil, parsley, mint, chives, to name a few? Such a blessing to have this available.

In the morning as you sit on the foredeck you are served local fresh fruit along with home baked treats while you gaze out over the water and watch the birds and clouds pass by. We serve a wonderful dark roast Honduran coffee that is ground fresh each day and made in our French press. If tea is your fancy, we have an assortment of loose teas, herbal and regular. One of guests calls this part “appetizers before breakfast”.

We serve a hearty breakfast that will last you through the morning activities. We customize the breakfast to our guests, eggs or no eggs it’s up to you!  Later in the morning after a dive, snorkel, paddle board, sail or reading your favourite book, you can enjoy an all-natural green tea iced tea, or freshly made watermelon juice with a sprig of mint, or another beverage of your choice along with homemade treats.  (It is hard work being on holidays so you need to keep your energy up!)

Then there’s Happy Hour!  Your choice of beverages whether it be a tropical Caribbean drink (we have umbrellas on board… but only for the drinks!) or an icy cold beer, or a chilled glass of wine. Relax and talk about your day, nibble on appetizers and take in the magnificent sun as it begins to set in the back ground. (At this point some of guests are giddy with joy!)

Wayne loves to BBQ, so dinners are a treat! Perhaps you would like chicken brushed with olive oil, herb de provence and fresh cut rosemary with roasted potatoes and two types of veggies, or beef tenderloin rubbed with olive oil, fresh ground pepper, garlic and seasoned salt; or locally caught snapper or lion fish drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled lime seasoned salt and pepper, freshly squeezed limes and slices of red onion and garlic all wrapped in foil…  to name a few.  You will love how he BBQ’s the lobster tails… yumm. Whatever your choice of main we will do our best to pair it with a lovely bottle of wine for you to enjoy.  We often have dinner inside once the sun goes down and guests enjoy the cozy feeling of the boat’s interior main salon.

After dinner, perhaps a digestif… port with dark chocolate, a scotch, a liqueur, or a warm herbal tea?  Have you had a blueberry tea?  That is warmed grand marnier with tea mixed together in a brandy sniffer.  Tastes heavenly and smells wonderfully aromatic. A nice night cap.

I would say our food on Zeppelin is simple, as fresh as possible, very healthy with lots of wonderful fruits and veggies, local fish, shrimp and lobster, and home baked treats to enjoy.

Here are a few comments from our guests:

We then settled in some comfy chairs on the bow for the trip to our dinner spot. We had our choice of drinks and Elly started bringing snacks right away. After a beautiful trip up the coast, we anchored in a spot protected from the wind. What followed was a night we will never forget. We had course after course of absolutely delicious food including a cheese and meat plate, crab dip, hummus, wedge salad, the best lobster tail I have ever had, and then crepes for dessert (and I am probably even forgetting something). On top of that, anything we wanted to drink they brought immediately, including a fairly expensive bottle of French wine (we had a choice of several). All of this was by candlelight on a very comfortable table. It was a meal fit for a five star restaurant, and it was obvious they had put hours of effort into it.”

“You can’t ask for better people to host your trip, Zeppelin is a floating museum, she is gorgeous. Ms Elly’s cooking is the best, I’m sure she adds love as a secret ingredient.”
